Hello, dear Patrons, and welcome to the unveiling of Matt’s least favorite Terror, Poseiduck! Personally, I like the duckling of the deeps. It helps that, unlike Matt, I didn’t design this one as my first Terror.

Poseiduck takes inspiration from the mallard duck for its collar, the design needed something to break up the large negative space of the head and body, and from Poseidon Greek god of the ocean (among other things like horses, earthquakes, etc.). The trident is the main symbol of Poseidon. I tried a few different feather crest designs and settled on a rounded feather for the main prong and sharper curves on the side crest feathers to add some diversity to the shapes.

I finally added a comparative human size indicator with the faded leg on the side of the sketch. I tried the ball in Driger and Rockong’s sketches to showcase how they grew, but I don’t think it worked well.
